Cinchona officinalis is a shrub or tree with rugose bark and branchlets covered in minute hairs. English names: Red Cinchona, Cinchona Bark, Jesuits Bark, loxa Bark, Jesuits Powder, Countess Powder, Peruvian bark. Spanish names: Quina, Cascarilla, Cargua Cargua, Corteza Coja.
